Since this recipe calls for pineapple skins I like to make it whenever I’ve made this delicious costa rican dream drink.

This way I cut down on waste, utilize the entire pineapple, and have 2 delicious type of beverages!

Pineapple

Pineapple alone can provide a variety of great health benefits due to its anti inflammatory and digestive properties. It’s rich in vitamin C, which is a great for boosting our immune system. With this recipe we are going to contribute to all this pineapple goodness by adding in a few other vitamin packed fresh ingredients. You’ll need the following.

Fresh Ginger

From stir-fry recipes to delicious chopped salads, fresh ginger not only livens up our food with its bold flavors, but also brings several health benefits to the table. According to Hopkinsmedicine.org consuming fresh ginger “can cut down on fermentation, constipation and other causes of bloating and intestinal gas.”

Mango Leaves

Increasingly it’s being recognized that mango leaves can treat and alleviate symptoms of several diseases and ailments such as: bronchitis, hypertension, diabetes, and kidney stones! I learned this from a friend of ours! Since the mango leaves don’t take away or add much in the way of flavor, but provide some great health benefits, they make a great addition to this tea recipe! You can purchase some mango leaves here.

Turmeric

Yet another flavorful natural anti-inflammatory packed food! Turmeric can act as a pain reliever for muscle aches and even boosts cognitive functions such as memory retention and mood. It is also known to help with skin conditions such as acne and eczema. I prefer to use fresh turmeric root when making this recipe, but pure powdered turmeric used for seasoning works well in a pinch!

Lemons & Limes

Not to be overlooked in this recipe is citrus juice! Because lemon and limes are citrus fruits they contains high amounts of Vitamin C as well as antioxidants. This means they brings a variety of health benefits to the table:

  • Assists with iron absorption
  • Immunity boosting
  • Kidney stone prevention
